Toyota Performance Center is owned and operated by Alex Thomson of Sherman, CT. Alex was born and raised in New Fairfield CT and has lived in Sherman for the past 20 years. At age 13 Alex started working on race cars with his neighbor, Bob Devine who also was a long time service manager at Bantam Toyota. Under the wings of Bob, Alex learned mechanics from the racing side first where everything on the car was hand built and all parts rebuilt, not replaced. After graduating high school Bob was able to get Alex in a Toyota T-TEN 2 year college program to learn cars. Alex graduated Greater New Haven Community College in 1991 the top in his class with a associates degree in applied science. During the 2 years of college he had been working at Bantam Toyota while not in school and stayed there for 5 years learning at a small shop. Over the past 30 years Alex has worked worked at 5 different Toyota dealers and has achieved ASE master certification as well as Toyota Master Diagnostic certification. Alex was one of the first techs in the area trained on Prius hybrid vehicles when they first came out in 2001 and has been fully certified on hybrid vehicles since. In his time off he still builds race cars which race every Saturday night at Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York.
The goal of the Toyota Performance Center (TPC) is to give a much better experience to the automotive enthusiast when their Toyota or Lexus needs repair. Alex is the only employee so the whole experience will be handled by him. Alex will pick your car up at your house or work, repair it and return it. When your car needs service Alex will spend the time checking all systems of your car. He will make a plan for your car of what it will need every 5000 miles to keep it running its best without gimmicks or unnecessary services. For those that want to upgrade looks or performance, Alex can handle any custom needs for your car. TPC will do what the dealers can't at a reasonable price with honesty and integrity.
